Primary objective
Under the supervision and direction of nursing staff assist with patient care whilst maintaining a safe work environment and
contribute to the efficient functioning of the unit.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Support nursing staff to provide optimal clinical patient care.
2. Provide patient support services to ensure an effective patient care service.
3. Undertake a range of duties to ensure a hygienic environment in accordance with TEMHS policy and Australian Health Care
Standards.
4. Communicate with patients and hospital staff to maintain a positive and harmonious working environment.
5. Delivers care within the role of boundaries under the direction of nursing staff.
6. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being
7. undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience working in a mental health care setting with experience in patient care activities
2. Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
3. Commitment to positive team culture and working effectively within a diverse cultural and multi-disciplinary environment
4. Demonstrated capacity to prioritise workloads and complete delegated activities whilst maintaining patient and workplace
safety including having and maintaining a level of physical fitness to safely perform tasks associated with the PCA role
5. Preparedness and capacity to work rostered shift work
Desirable
1. VET qualifications in Mental Health or other relevant areas
2. Demonstrated working knowledge of computers
3. Hold current NT drivers licence
