Safer Communities Project Officer
- Play a key role in promoting community safety and fostering participation in community life.
- Part time, fixed term position for 4 months (23 hours per week).
- $84,770 to $98,205 (pro rata to be applied) per annum plus Superannuation
Make a difference by coordinating and delivering a variety of projects and events with a focus on fostering participation in community life and promoting community safety.
A little bit about the role
Reporting to the Health Planning Team Leader, the Safer Communities Project Officer will be responsible for assisting with the delivery of a variety of projects and community events such as Community Safety Month (including the Emergency Family Fun Day and Community Safety Forum), International Women’s Day, 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence Campaign, and Homelessness Week.
The role will also support delivery of projects in the health and wellbeing space, and the implementation of Council’s Homelessness Protocol, as required. This includes supporting the Safer Communities Planner (Homelessness) to coordinate Council’s approach to managing complex issues relating to health and safety issues that may arise at sites where people are sleeping rough in the municipality.
A little bit about you
You will have outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, be personable and approachable and able to engage with a range of audiences including, external agencies and groups, Victorian Government departments, service providers, and the community.
You will have a demonstrated understanding of health, wellbeing and safety issues impacting the community, for example family violence and homelessness.
You will have experience in project development and the delivery of community events.
You will also have comprehensive computer skills across the Microsoft Office range of applications, a willingness to work as part of a team and prepared to share experiences with other team members to improve overall knowledge.
The successful incumbent will also have:
- post-secondary qualifications with relevant work experience
- a commitment to quality outcomes and efficient work practices, and
- excellent time management and organisation skills

- Preferred applicants will be required to undergo a National Police Record Check and hold a valid Working with Children Clearance.
