We are seeking an experienced chef with a knowledge of overall commercial kitchen operations and ability to lead and supervise juniors in command.
This will be a full-time role requiring you to work 38 hours per week with additional hours occasionally, if needed.
You will be directly reporting to the head chef and managers. We want to see you lead by example and be hands on with your team in all aspects at the back of the house.
As a chef, your role will involve the following major duties:
- Setting up the kitchen with utensils, equipment and food supplies for speedy service.
- Modify recipes to meet customers’ needs and requests.
- Collaborate with the head chef to develop new menu items and specials, keeping in mind budget, and availability of seasonal ingredients.
- Work without supervision ensuring high level of meal quality and consistency.
- Supervise and coordinate the work of junior kitchen members such as cooks and kitchen hands.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards and hygiene regulations.
- Train and monitor junior kitchen staff.
- Direct and instruct food preparation, seasoning and presentation.
- Be aware of the latest industry trends.
- Stock take, place orders with suppliers and store them accordingly to maintain efficient service.
- Check the quality of stored food items, rotate and dispose off as needed to maintain quality.
What we are looking for?
- Proven work experience as a chef for at least 3 years' in a commercial kitchen.
- Trade qualification in commercial cookery / kitchen management (Certificate IV + Diploma highly preferred).
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Excellend presentation, interpersonal, collaborative and time management skills.
- Ability to work a flexible roster including weekends.
- Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure.
- Punctual for the rostered shifts.
About the position:

Annual Salary of $70,000.00 up to $80,000.00 will be available depending on the skills, knowledge and qualifications.
