This position is designed to support senior trainees in completing the requirements for Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, in accordance with the College training program.
The Provisional Fellow will be expected to provide high-quality anaesthetic care to a diverse and complex patient population within a major tertiary referral centre, under the supervision of designated consultant anaesthetists. The role facilitates the transition to independent specialist practice through progressive autonomy in clinical decision-making, tailored to the Fellow’s experience and demonstrated competence.
The position offers:
- Exposure to complex subspecialty anaesthesia and perioperative medicine
- Opportunities for increasing clinical independence
- Dedicated non-clinical time for education, research, leadership and quality improvement
All clinical care is delivered within a supervised framework, with ultimate responsibility resting with the supervising Specialist. Fellows are expected to communicate clearly with supervising consultants regarding all significant clinical decisions.
Sydney Local Health District's vision incorporates NSW Health Core Values and a commitment to equity, health improvement, timeliness and efficiency, recognising that evidence-based service delivery requires highly skilled and valued staff supported by research, education and state-of-the-art technologies.
Our strategic priority under this vision is our commitment to excellence in Patient and Family Centre Care. Staff are supported to ensure patients, their families and carers are considered as partners in care to achieve optimal patient outcomes and best possible healthcare experience.
