The Role
The successful applicant will be responsible for providing a broad range of professional hairdressing and barbering services, including client consultations, precision cutting, men’s grooming, beard and moustache services, colouring, chemical treatments, styling and after-care advice.
This role is ideal for a qualified hairdresser with strong barbering skills, including fades, clipper work, razor work, shaving, beard shaping and men’s styling.
Key Responsibilities
- Consult with clients to understand their hair, grooming and styling requirements.
- Provide professional advice on hairstyles, grooming options, hair products and after-care treatments.
- Perform precision hair cutting using scissors, clippers and razors.
- Perform barbering services, including fades, taper cuts, clipper cuts, beard trimming, moustache shaping and shaving.
- Cut, style, colour, straighten and treat hair according to client needs.
- Apply chemical treatments, including colouring, straightening, perming and relaxing treatments.
- Create specialist styles such as braids, dreadlocks, extensions and other requested styles where required.
- Wash, condition and prepare hair for cutting, styling and treatment.
- Maintain high standards of salon hygiene, including cleaning and sanitising tools, equipment and work areas.
- Manage client appointments, maintain client records, process payments and encourage rebooking.
- Build strong client relationships and help grow the salon’s customer base.
- Work cooperatively with the salon team to deliver consistent and professional client service.
Requirements
- Certificate III in Hairdressing, barbering qualification, or equivalent overseas qualification.
- At least 1–2 years of professional experience in hairdressing, barbering or a closely related salon role.
- Strong skills in men’s haircutting, fades, clipper work, beard trimming and grooming.
- Ability to perform general hairdressing services, including cutting, styling, colouring and chemical treatments.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High standard of personal presentation, hygiene and professionalism.
- Willingness to work weekdays, weekends and flexible salon hours as required.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy salon environment.
