The Opportunity
As Assistant Accountant you will provide financial information to enable other departments to make sound and well-informed business decisions. In the role, you will also assist the Finance Department with the delivery of the statutory and group financial reporting as well as maintain and improve processes and procedures. You will develop strong relationships and work collaboratively with Commercial Business Analysts and Finance Commercial Managers and other key business stakeholders.
This opportunity is initially offered on a 14 month fixed term contract based in our national head office in Pyrmont, 2009.

What you'll be responsible for
Minimum 2-3 years experience in a similar role
Perform month-end and year-end close processes
Work closely with the Commercial Business Analysts and Business Managers and prepare journals to close out the reporting periods
Prepare Balance Sheet GL reconciliations
Assist in internal and external audits
Drive process improvement and system enhancement initiatives
What you'll need to be successful
University degree (e.g. Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent)
Studying towards qualification (CPA/CA)
Good Excel skills
