Design & Engineering
CPP has the largest in-house design and engineering team of any contractor in Australia, with over 170 specialists across Electrical Primary and Secondary, Civil, Structural, and SCADA disciplines. We provide end-to-end engineering solutions for high-voltage infrastructure, including nationally significant transmission projects, HV substations, wind farms and battery storage systems that drive Australia’s renewable energy transition.

The Opportunity
Play a key role in delivering geotechnical engineering solutions for some of Australia's largest high-voltage infrastructure and renewable energy projects.
Reporting to the Team Lead -Civil and working closely with the Principal Engineer - Geotechnical, you'll provide specialist geotechnical expertise across the full project lifecycle - from feasibility and tender design through to detailed design and construction support. You'll work on a diverse portfolio including substations, transmission lines, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and wind and solar Balance of Plant (BoP) projects, collaborating with civil, structural and electrical engineers to deliver safe, practical and constructible outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:
Undertake geotechnical design across all project phases, from feasibility and tender through to detailed design and construction support for major transmission, substation, BESS and renewable energy projects.
Plan and interpret geotechnical investigations, delivering geotechnical models and technical assessments for foundations, settlement, slope stability, ground improvement and geohazard mitigation.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop safe, practical and constructible design solutions that meet project, regulatory and quality requirements.
Prepare, review and contribute to peer reviews of geotechnical reports, calculations and design documentation, ensuring compliance with relevant Australian Standards and CPP's quality systems.
Build strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders while contributing to tender activities, supporting developing engineers and helping drive the continuous improvement of CPP's geotechnical capability.
Skills and Experiences:
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering, with CPEng status or active progression towards chartership.
Registration on the National Engineering Register (NER) and/or Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ), or willingness to obtain where required.
Demonstrated experience delivering geotechnical design for infrastructure, power, renewable energy or civil construction projects.
Strong technical capability across soil and rock mechanics, foundation engineering, settlement, ground improvement, slope stability and geotechnical investigations.
Proficiency using geotechnical software such as Plaxis, SLIDE, LPILE, Settle3, gINT, WALLAP or equivalent, with sound knowledge of relevant Australian Standards.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality technical documentation and work collaboratively across multidisciplinary project teams.
