Details: We are seeking a highly capable and experienced Senior Director to contribute to the ACT Government’s objective of diversifying and strengthening the ACT economy.
In this key leadership role, you will work to support small and medium businesses across the ACT’s priority sectors and the innovation ecosystem, helping to build a vibrant and sustainable business environment for Canberrans and those looking to invest and do business in the ACT.
Reporting to the Executive Branch Manager, your responsibilities will include leading the design and delivery of programs and policies that support business growth and diversification, while providing high-quality strategic advice to senior executives and the Minister on program delivery and economic development matters.
You will manage program resources, including finances, staff, and external contracts, and ensure effective governance by implementing systems to manage risk, monitor performance, and support continuous improvement. The role also requires representing the ACT Government at national policy forums and business engagements and contributing to international trade missions.
Working collaboratively across ACT Government agencies and with the Commonwealth, you will address matters of whole-of-government significance and shared priorities. A key component of the role is overseeing the preparation and coordination of complex Cabinet and ministerial briefings and correspondence.
This position involves direct supervision of staff and may include other duties as required.
About You
You are an accomplished leader with strong experience in program delivery, policy development, and economic or business development. You bring excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, sound judgement, and the ability to lead in a complex and fast-paced environment.
Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of six months, with the possibility of extension up to 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
