Position Summary
The Kitchen Hand / Bakery Assistant supports the daily production of breads, pastries, and other bakery products while maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient workspace. This role is ideal for someone with hospitality experience who has a genuine interest in artisan baking and pastry production and is keen to develop their skills within a bakery environment.
Key Responsibilities
Production Support
- Assist bakers and pastry staff with the preparation and production of breads, pastries, and other baked goods.
- Scale, weigh, and prepare ingredients according to recipes and production schedules.
- Assist with dough preparation, shaping, proving, baking, and finishing products as directed.
- Support pastry production tasks including preparation, assembly, and finishing.
Kitchen & Bakery Operations
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised bakery and kitchen environment.
- Wash and sanitise equipment, utensils, trays, and work areas.
- Assist with stock rotation, ingredient storage, and inventory management.
- Receive and store deliveries in accordance with food safety requirements.
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety procedures.
Team Support
- Work collaboratively with the bakery team to meet daily production targets.
- Assist with packing, labelling, and presentation of products.
- Contribute to a positive and productive workplace culture.
- Undertake other duties as reasonably required to support bakery operations.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Previous hospitality, kitchen, or food preparation experience.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Preferred
- Previous bakery or pastry experience.
- Knowledge of bread making, pastry production, or commercial baking processes.
- Food Safety Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
Working Conditions
- Full-time position.
- Early morning starts between 5:00am and 8:00am.
- Some weekend work required.
- Physical role requiring standing for extended periods and lifting bakery supplies and equipment as required.

Pay: $60,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year
