Female Disability Support Worker, In-Home Support

- Pay Rate: $39.80 per hour
- Current Schedule: Monday and Friday afternoons, from 4:00 PM onwards
About the Role
We are looking for a caring, reliable, and respectful Disability Support Worker to provide in-home and community-based support to a participant with Down syndrome in Truganina.
The role is focused on providing person-centred support while respecting the participant’s choice, control, independence, cultural background, and individual preferences.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide in-home care and daily living support
- Assist with household cleaning and maintaining a safe, comfortable home environment
- Prepare meals and assist with cooking
- Support the participant with daily routines and activities
- Provide pick-ups and drop-offs when required
- Support community access and outings
- Provide patient, respectful and participant-led support
- Encourage independence, confidence and choice in daily activities
Cultural and Language Requirements
Due to the participant’s communication needs, cultural background, and personal preference, a Support Worker who speaks the participant’s preferred South Indian language and has familiarity with South Indian culture is required. Applicants must be able to communicate effectively in the participant’s preferred language and demonstrate cultural awareness.
About You
The successful candidate must:
- Have experience in disability support, in-home care or a similar role
- Be patient, compassionate, reliable and respectful
- Understand person-centred care, participant choice and control
- Be comfortable with cooking, meal preparation and household support
- Be available on Mondays and Fridays from 4:00 PM onwards
- Be available for shifts of up to 6 hours
- Be comfortable assisting with transportation when required
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Speak the participant’s preferred South Indian language
- Have an understanding of South Indian culture
Required Documents & Checks
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working with Children Check, if applicable
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
- Valid Australian Driver’s Licence
- Reliable and insured vehicle, if transportation is required
- Relevant disability or community services experience
- Valid ABN (Australian Business Number)
