An excellent opportunity is available for a Clinical Nurse Specialist - Ophthalmology to join the team at Nepean Hospital. In this pivotal position, you will provide clinical nursing leadership in Ophthalmic Nursing within the outpatient department at Nepean Hospital, to achieve optimal outcomes for patients with ophthalmic conditions. You will coordinate and deliver nursing care to patients attending clinic, working collaboratively with the medical team, Nurse Unit Managers (NUMs), and outpatient staffs. Through your advanced clinical skills and commitment to person-centred care, you will play a key role in shaping a service that is both clinically exceptional and responsive to the individual needs of every patient.

What you will bring to the role
Current registration as a Registered Nurse Division 1 with AHPRA.
Relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years’ experience working in Ophthalmology / Orthoptics, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate.
Exercises professional knowledge and judgement in providing complex care requiring advanced clinical skills, demonstrating the knowledge and experience to manage complex clinical care within Orthoptic procedures to include visual assessments, medication installation and intraocular checks with the ability to problem solve issues.
Demonstrated ability to perform in a clinical leadership role to include the use of critical thinking and initiating activities to improve clinical service delivery and patient outcomes.
Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to identify key messages, issues, and concerns and communicate them clearly and appropriately.
Commitment to contribute to own and the teams professional development, to act as a resource person and mentor to others within the specialty.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision maintaining involvement within the wider multidisciplinary team.
