Make a meaningful difference by supporting Aboriginal people, families and communities to access culturally safe alcohol and other drug services that promote healing, recovery and wellbeing.
- Provide culturally safe, person-centred support to Aboriginal patients and families accessing alcohol and other drug services.
- Assist patients to navigate health and community services, advocating for their social, emotional and cultural needs.
- Build positive relationships with Aboriginal communities and partner organisations to strengthen engagement and access to care.
- Contribute to health assessments, care planning and referrals that support recovery and wellbeing.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver culturally responsive care and improve health outcomes for Aboriginal people.
SWSLHD operates its services across the traditional lands of the Dharawal, Darug and Gundungurra peoples, in strong partnership with local Aboriginal communities to deliver better, culturally responsive health care, led by our Aboriginal Health services.We are a district that is committed to supporting you grow and develop your skills. - Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person with strong cultural knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal communities.
- Demonstrate an understanding of current Aboriginal health priorities and the factors that influence social and emotional wellbeing.
- Have experience supporting Aboriginal people in a health, community or social support setting, or demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and develop in the role
- Build effective relationships with Aboriginal communities, service providers and multidisciplinary teams to support culturally responsive care.
- Communicate respectfully and effectively, with sound organisational skills and the ability to support clients through their health journey.
