The Drug & Alcohol Clinical Services (DACS) Intake Team are a small, dynamic team located on the James Fletcher Campus Newcastle. About the role:
A typical day will involve completing Drug and Alcohol Assessments with clients, predominantly over the phone, to determine the most suitable Drug & Alcohol service to refer them to and facilitate referrals. You will also be providing information to clients about services available, as well as to family members or friends who may call with concerns for a loved one. Our service operates Monday – Friday (excluding public holidays) 8am-4.30pm.
You will be supported by the Nurse Unit Manager, the DACS Intake Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) and other multidisciplinary professionals within the team and the wider service, including the DACS Clinical Nurse Educator. Professional development and Clinical Supervision are encouraged and supported, and DACS provides education sessions regularly.
About you:
This role will require you to assist people who are experiencing challenges with alcohol, or other drugs engage with appropriate Drug & Alcohol Services, and/or providing information to clients or family members. We are looking for someone who is innovative, professional, and ethical, with effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. The ability to work in a team environment is also a must.
Requirements:

Must hold a degree in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Counselling or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer, which provides eligibility or membership of the relevant professional association and full registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), where applicable.
