The Director of Midwifery (DoM) is a registered midwife who demonstrates high level clinical and policy expertise in relation to midwifery and maternity services. The DoM is responsible for strategic leadership in workforce planning, coordination, and policy direction to support the provision of safe quality clinical care for mothers and babies in health services.
What you'll do
As the Director of Midwifery, you will provide strategic leadership and professional management to the midwifery workforce, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, lifelong learning, and continuous professional development. You will lead the delivery of safe, evidence-based midwifery care and promote contemporary models of maternity care that achieve outstanding patient and service outcomes. Working collaboratively with stakeholders across Hospital and Health Services, CEQ partners, and multidisciplinary teams, you will provide authoritative advice on midwifery practice, workforce planning, and resource management, while overseeing the development and evaluation of innovative service delivery models. Drawing on your extensive expertise in leadership, governance, change management, and strategic planning, you will support the development of policies, protocols, standards, and information systems, ensure compliance with legislative and professional requirements, promote quality governance and risk mitigation strategies, and identify opportunities to improve services and strengthen maternity care outcomes across Queensland.
About you
We are searching for someone who has:
A qualification and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, as a Midwife appearing on the AHPRA register of practitioners.
Demonstrated ability to actively engage and seek input from clinical and professional stakeholders and professional bodies to actively inform and contribute to the priorities of
Demonstrated experience and knowledge of health care systems and priorities at the state, national and international levels.
Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritise complex issues, in a highly visible and politically sensitive sector, including high level written and verbal communication skills to ensure the ability to report to the Minister and/or Department leaders on a range of midwifery professional issues.
Demonstrated understanding of, and ability to, contribute to the development of parameters and metrics to measure the quality of midwifery practice and practice
