About the Job
We are seeking a motivated Principal Process Engineer to join our Consulting Resources Team on a full-time basis. You will bring experience in operations, consulting and/or process design engineering within the minerals and metals sector, along with a strong track record of leading complex process engineering projects across multiple phases of execution.
The ideal candidate will have experience in minerals processing and hydrometallurgical operations, including process studies, brownfield modifications, debottlenecking, operational improvement initiatives and capital projects. You will combine strong technical expertise with practical plant troubleshooting and process optimisation experience to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions for operating facilities.

What You'll Do
- Lead conceptual, pre-feasibility and detailed process engineering designs for greenfield and brownfield expansion projects.
- Coordinate and lead teams of process engineers to deliver successful project outcomes within budget and schedule constraints.
- Collaborate with Engineering Managers and Project Managers on studies and projects to deliver high-value, optimised technical solutions with strong consideration of technical risk and economic viability.
- Lead the development of process engineering deliverables including Design Criteria, Mass and Energy Balances, process simulations, calculations, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), datasheets, control philosophies and technical reports.
- Lead process evaluations, trade-off studies and operational reviews to support major project decision-making using a range of tools, including multi-criteria assessments.
- Complete equipment sizing activities and engage with vendors to ensure selected equipment meets process requirements, conduct technical bid evaluations and obtain budgetary quotations to support capital cost estimates.
- Provide technical and safety leadership to ensure designs are developed in accordance with relevant codes, standards and industry best-practice process safety principles.
- Provide overall technical assurance for process engineering deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work within company procedures, technical guidelines, quality assurance frameworks, safety requirements and project-specific standards.
What You'll Have
- A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy or a related science discipline.
- Significant operational and design experience in minerals processing and/or hydrometallurgical processes such as lithium, cobalt, nickel, copper, rare earths, alumina or uranium.
- Demonstrated experience across a broad range of process unit operations and, preferably, complete process flowsheets.
- Professional accreditation and compliance with local engineering registration requirements.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to tailor the depth of technical analysis to suit the level of study definition, including FEL1, FEL2 and FEL3 studies.
- Experience leading front-end conceptual studies and pre-feasibility studies.
- Operational plant experience (advantageous).
- Experience using process simulation software such as METSIM, SysCAD, HSC or similar packages (advantageous).
- A demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Brisbane or Perth location preferred, although other locations may be considered.
