The Alexis Family Violence Response Model (A‑FVRM) is a jointly designed initiative between The Salvation Army and Victoria Police, providing an integrated, risk informed, whole‑of‑family response to high‑risk family violence incidents. This role is critical in ensuring timely, coordinated and trauma-informed interventions that reduce risk and strengthen safety for victim survivors.
As a Senior Specialist Family Violence Practitioner (Victim Survivor), this is your opportunity to provide intensive, short-term, trauma-informed interventions to individuals and families experiencing family violence. Embedded within the Victoria Police Family Violence Investigation Unit (FVIU), you will contribute to a unified, real‑time, multidisciplinary response that prioritises safety, stabilises crisis, and mitigates systemic risk.
Reporting to the Team Leader, this is a fixed-term full-time position, contracted for 12 months, located onsite in Frankston, VIC.
Compensation is in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award (SCHADS) Level 6.
How you will make an impact

Assess and prioritise high-risk family violence cases, applying MARAM and a gendered, child-focused lens to ensure the safety of victim survivors in a fast-paced, police-embedded environment.

Lead intake, triage, and dynamic risk assessments, making timely, sound decisions and delivering immediate safety planning and crisis responses.

Partner closely with Victoria Police and specialist services, co-triaging incidents and delivering coordinated, integrated responses to complex family violence matters.

Provide trauma-informed, respectful and non-judgemental support, engaging victim survivors with empathy while upholding strong professional boundaries and a whole-of-family approach.

Deliver short-term case coordination and risk-driven interventions, including referrals, advocacy, and crisis escalation, while responding flexibly during periods of high demand.

Maintain high standards of practice and accountability, including accurate record-keeping, MARAM-aligned service delivery, collaboration across services, and ongoing learning through supervision and professional development.

Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or equivalent, aligned with Mandatory Minimum Qualifications (Rec 209).

At least five years case management experience, with family violence experience highly desirable

Strong understanding of the gendered nature of family violence, intersectionality, child development and trauma

Ability to work effectively with men using violence, maintaining boundaries, risk focus and accountability

Experience working in multidisciplinary, integrated service models

A current VIC Employee Working with Children Check

A current VIC Drivers Licence

Willingness to undergo Victoria Police Security Checks
