About the role
Care AU is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our team in Sunshine, VIC. This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst making a meaningful difference in the lives of people with disabilities. As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing person-centred support, enabling individuals to achieve their goals, maintain independence, and participate actively in their communities. This position is essential to our mission of delivering high-quality aged and disability support services.
Key responsibilities
- Provide direct personal care and support to individuals with disabilities, assisting with daily living activities such as hygiene, grooming, dressing and meal preparation
- Support clients in accessing community activities, recreational programmes and social engagement opportunities
- Assist with mobility support, including helping clients with transfers, positioning and using mobility aids safely
- Maintain accurate and timely records of support provided, client progress and any concerns or incidents
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, carers and the broader Care AU team to ensure coordinated and consistent support
- Promote client independence, dignity and choice in all interactions and support activities
- Follow Care AU's policies, procedures and safeguarding protocols to ensure the wellbeing and protection of clients
- Assist with household tasks and light domestic duties as required and appropriate
- Support clients in developing life skills and achieving their personal goals and aspirations
What we're looking for
- A genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities and a commitment to person-centred care
- Previous experience in disability support, aged care, community services or a related field is highly desirable
- A valid disability worker check or willingness to obtain one as a condition of employment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to listen, empathise and respond appropriately to individual needs
- Physical capability to provide personal care support safely, including assisting with mobility where required
- Reliability, punctuality and a professional approach to casual work commitments
- A current first aid certificate or willingness to obtain one
- The ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team
- Excellent personal hygiene standards and a commitment to infection control practices
- A non-judgmental attitude and respect for the diversity, choices and rights of clients
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for recording and communicating information accurately

Pay: $37.00 – $45.00 per hour
