About the Role
Care Fast Group is seeking an experienced, emotionally mature, and highly professional Disability Support Worker to support an 18 year old male participant with complex support needs.
The participant has diagnoses including Acquired Brain Injury, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Anxiety, and Depression. Historical diagnoses include Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Oppositional Defiant Disorder.
This role requires a support worker who can remain calm, professional, and non-reactive while supporting a participant who may engage in challenging conversations, testing behaviours, verbal escalation, antagonistic interactions, or attempts to push professional boundaries.
The successful candidate will understand the importance of maintaining clear professional boundaries, respecting participant autonomy, and providing practical, person-centred support that focuses on skill development, routine building, and increased independence.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Support
Provide person-centred support in line with participant goals, support plans, and organisational policies.
Assist with community access, daily living tasks, routine development, and independence-building activities.
Support the participant to engage in meaningful activities and develop practical life skills.
Encourage choice, control, and decision-making while maintaining appropriate support.
Behaviour Support
Remain calm and professional during periods of verbal escalation, antagonistic behaviour, emotional de-regulation, or challenging conversations.
Maintain consistent boundaries and expectations.
Follow Positive Behaviour Support strategies, risk management plans, and organisational procedures.
Utilise de-escalation techniques appropriate to the participant’s needs.
Accurately document incidents, observations, and support outcomes.
Professional Practice
Maintain strict professional boundaries at all times.
Use a consent based and permission based approach to support.
Respect privacy, dignity, personal space, and participant autonomy.
Avoid engaging in counselling, therapeutic interventions, or clinical discussions outside the support worker scope of practice.
Work collaboratively with families, clinicians, coordinators, and allied health professionals.
Essential Selection Criteria
Experience
Minimum 2 years’ experience supporting people with disability, psychosocial disability, mental health challenges, or complex behavioural presentations.
Demonstrated experience supporting participants with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Acquired Brain Injury, ADHD, or mental health conditions.
Experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans and risk management strategies.
Previous experience within Supported Independent Living (SIL) or community-based support environments.
Skills & Attributes

Strong understanding of professional boundaries and ethical practice.
Ability to remain non-reactive when confronted with challenging behaviours or provocative conversations.
Excellent communication and rapport-building skills.
Strong observational, reporting, and documentation abilities.

Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
Current Australian Driver Licence.

Relevant qualification (Certificate III, IV, Diploma, or equivalent).
