We are seeking a Program Worker to join our Family Connect and Support team on a part time basis to help make a positive social change, together.
An exciting opportunity exists with our Family Connect and Support team in a role that has a focus on working closely with families, children and young people from a person-centred evidence-based approach that promotes self-determination. Though client led goal planning, and connecting families to culturally appropriate supports and services, the Program Worker will assist in improving the social and emotional wellbeing of children, young people and their families.

What you'll be doing
- Case coordination and supporting families through strength-based capacity building
- Conducting strength -based assessments that consider the whole family system, cultural context and presenting risk
- Developing clear and achievable plans to connect families to the right supports, and empower them to be resourceful and utilise their own strengths and abilities
- Providing flexible service delivery in an outreach capacity to families across the Northern Rivers, including home visits and cold calling when necessary
- Providing warm handovers to support meaningful service engagement
- Recognising and responding appropriately to early indicators of harm to prevent statutory intervention.
- Maintaining timely and accurate case notes and client records aligned with organisational and contractual requirements
- Supporting culturally responsive practice for Aboriginal families and diverse communities
- Developing a strong understanding of the DCJ Community and Family Supports (CAFS) specifications, relevant risk frameworks and local support services
- Engaging families experiencing complexities with warmth, empathy and professional boundaries
- Representing Family Connect and Support in universal settings across the Northern Rivers to engage isolated families.
What we're looking for
- Strong communication and the ability to work collaboratively with service providers and key stakeholders
- Has a high-level understanding of risk and the complexities associated with this and who can manage accordingly
- The ability to work alongside families to build their confidence and empower them to make positive changes in their lives
- The attention to detail to collect, and ensure integrity of, data using relevant information systems to meet commissioning and outcome-based reporting requirements
- Willingness to participate in supervision activities including case reviews and case audits
- Ensuring relevant mandatory reporting requirements are met in line with legislative and policy requirements
- Participation in business planning processes within the Team / Branch and provide feedback on enhancement to program services and delivery / identify opportunities for improvement
- Someone who can learn quickly and adjust practice to support the needs of families and the community whilst working within the parameters of the program’s guidelines.
