The Australian Museum delivers a diverse program of exhibitions that inspire curiosity and connect audiences with science, culture, nature and history. As part of the Exhibition Production team, you will help bring these exhibitions to life, creating engaging experiences for visitors through high-quality fabrication, installation and maintenance work.
About the Role
We are looking for an Exhibitions Project Officer AV to join the Exhibition Production team, supporting the research, procurement, installation and ongoing maintenance of audiovisual, projection, media and lighting systems for galleries and specialexhibitions. This is an opportunity to contribute to exceptional visitor experiences at one of Australia's most significant cultural institutions.
In this hands-on role, you will undertake a range of audiovisual activities including AV installation and de-installation, systems integration, running cables, lighting and program scripting, and the installation and maintenance of projection and media systems. You will also assist with exhibition installation activities such as object handling and placement, gallery fit outs and the integration of AV technologies into complex built spaces.
Working closely with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders, you will help ensure exhibitions are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You will also support the team in the ongoing maintenance of AV equipment and infrastructure, and in identifying practical and innovative solutions to technical production challenges. Maintaining compliance with work health and safety requirements, relevant legislation and industry best practice will be a key aspect of the role.

You will be paid a competitive total remuneration package of $88,529 - $108,372, including an annual salary of $78,000- $95,482, plus employer’s contribution to superannuation (currently 12%) and annual leave loading.

About you
We are seeking a technically capable AV professional with industry experience in the installation, integration and maintenance of audiovisual systems. You have a solid understanding of AV equipment and infrastructure, apply WHS standards rigorously, and can diagnose and resolve faults efficiently. You work collaboratively with project teams and external contractors, communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders, and manage documentation and procurement processes with care. Experience in a gallery, museum or similar cultural or built environment setting is advantageous.
To be eligible for this role at the Australian Museum, you must hold full working rights in Australia and meet all essential requirements listed in the position description.
Knowledge and Experience

Industry experience with a demonstrated understanding of AV systems in cultural settings

Experience in AV installation and de-installation, systems integration and running cables, while ensuring these comply with existing industry standards

Demonstrated ability to maintain and troubleshoot existing AV equipment

Excellent working knowledge and understanding of the application of guidelines, Work Health and Safety (WH&S) legislation and regulations; NSW government procurement and tendering processes

Class C Drivers’ License and/or a Construction White Card are desirable
