Lead the engine room of finance | Service, control, and transformation focus
Are you a hands-on finance operations leader who thrives in fast-paced, high-volume environments where accuracy, service, and control truly matter?
At Law Partners, we are seeking a Finance Operations Manager to lead our transactional finance function and transform how finance services are delivered across the firm.
Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the day-to-day performance, discipline, and continuous improvement of our finance operations across accounts payable, receivables, trust accounting, billing support, and broader transaction processing.
This is not a back-office processing role — it is a leadership position focused on building a high-performing, service-led finance operations function that supports lawyers, clients, and business teams with speed, accuracy, and consistency.
About the Role
You will lead a multi-disciplinary finance operations team, ensuring the smooth flow of financial transactions across the firm while driving efficiency, control, and service excellence.
You will own the operating rhythm of finance — from workflows and SLAs through to process design, automation, and issue resolution.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Leading accounts payable, accounts receivable, trust accounting, banking, payments, and receipts
- Managing billing support and matter finance administration for legal teams
- Establishing and monitoring SLAs, work queues, turnaround times, and operational metrics
- Driving process improvement, automation, and standardisation across finance workflows
- Owning SOPs, training materials, controls, and operational documentation
- Ensuring strong financial controls, including approvals, master data, and segregation of duties
- Partnering closely with the Financial Controller to support month-end close and reconciliation accuracy
- Resolving operational finance issues in collaboration with legal and business teams
- Leading, coaching, and developing a high-performing, service-oriented team
What Success Looks Like
In this role, you will be measured on:
- Consistent delivery of finance services within agreed SLAs
- Reduced backlog, rework, and transaction errors
- Faster turnaround of payments, receipts, and finance requests
- Stronger operational controls and audit readiness
- Improved data quality feeding into financial reporting
- High satisfaction from legal and business stakeholders
About You
We are looking for a strong operational leader who brings structure, discipline, and a continuous improvement mindset.
You will bring:
- Experience leading finance operations, shared services, or transactional finance teams
- Strong understanding of AP, AR, banking, reconciliations, and workflow-heavy finance environments
- Experience working with SLAs, service delivery models, and operational KPIs
- Strong systems capability (ERP, billing, workflow or practice management systems)
- A process improvement mindset with experience driving efficiency and automation
- Excellent leadership skills with a focus on coaching, accountability, and performance
- The ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume environment
- Experience in professional services or legal environments is highly regarded
