About this Position:
We are seeking a committed and experienced, Senior Regulatory Services Officer (Planning) to join our Development Standards team.
Reporting to the Manager Development Standards, this role is responsible for delivering specialised regulatory, compliance, and development assessment services, ensuring Council meets its statutory obligations under relevant planning, environmental, and regulatory legislation. The position undertakes complex compliance investigations, fast‑track development assessments, and regulatory enforcement activities, including representing Council in legal proceedings where required.
As a key member of a multi‑skilled team, the Senior Regulatory Services Officer (Planning) provides authoritative advice to customers, the development industry, and internal stakeholders. The role contributes to policy improvement, continuous enhancement of service delivery, legislative compliance, and positive community safety outcomes. Working collaboratively across the organisation, this position supports high‑quality development outcomes while demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic regulatory environment.

What we trust you to deliver:
- Deliver efficient and high‑quality assessment outcomes for fast‑track development applications in line with relevant legislation and Council standards.
- Proactively manage compliance matters by monitoring approvals, investigating breaches, and taking appropriate regulatory action.
- Conduct detailed site inspections and audits to ensure developments meet approval conditions and statutory requirements.
- Prepare clear, well‑reasoned documentation, including enforcement actions and materials to support legal proceedings where required.
- Engage professionally with customers, developers, and the community to resolve complex regulatory issues and achieve practical outcomes.
- Provide accurate, timely advice on planning and regulatory obligations, supporting informed decision‑making across stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including identifying emerging issues and enhancing policies, systems, and processes.
What you will need to be successful:
- Qualifications in land use planning, building construction or a compliance related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- Accredited E1 Certifier (Swimming Pool Barriers) or equivalent training or experience.
- WorkCover Construction Induction Certificate (white card) - or willing to obtain
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence.
Full position description:
Full Time: 70 hours a fortnight
