Lead with purpose. Shape progress for a growing city.
Transformation is happening across Blacktown City. In this role, you connect people to the projects shaping their neighbourhoods, keeping the community informed, involved and confident in the changes around them.
As a Communication and Engagement Officer, you support delivery of communication and engagement activities across major projects. You work with project teams, consultants and the community to ensure information is clear, timely and consistent. This includes preparing content such as newsletters, website updates, social media posts, media releases and briefings, while coordinating engagement activities aligned with key milestones.
You help develop and implement communication and engagement plans, coordinate stakeholder activities and track how projects are received by the community. Day to day, you move between writing, planning, coordinating and reporting, ensuring every piece of communication supports broader project goals. You also contribute insights on community sentiment and engagement outcomes to support decision making.
Your work helps people understand what is changing, why it matters and how they can have a say. Strong communication builds trust, reduces uncertainty and helps projects run smoothly.
You are an organised and capable communicator who works well in a team environment. You manage competing priorities, deliver quality work to deadlines, and most importantly, value clear, practical communication that supports real outcomes for the community.
At Blacktown City Council, good people make great teams – and great teams build great cities. Here, you will find the stability and support to keep growing, along with:
- a term contract, full-time role for up to 4 years with one of Australia's largest councils

- a 35-hour working week
