Build a Creative Career in Picture Framing
Are you looking for a creative and rewarding career?
Do you have a practical background, excellent attention to detail and good hand skills? Perhaps you have a design eye, a creative streak or experience in another trade and are ready for a new direction.
Arts Edge Gallery is a woman and veteran owned custom framing business, proudly serving the community since 2003. We are seeking a motivated and dedicated person to join our team as a Trainee Picture Framer.
Learn a specialised trade
Picture framing is a genuine trade that combines:
- Fine craftsmanship and woodworking.
- Creative design and accurate measurements.
- Mounting, mat cutting and artwork presentation.
- Glass and acrylic cutting, handling and fitting.
- Conservation methods and archival materials.
- Technical skills, precision and problem-solving.
- Computer-based systems and modern machinery.
At Arts Edge, we take our trade seriously. You will learn from experienced professionals and work with high-quality equipment, materials and machinery in a specialist custom-framing workshop.
This is a long-term training opportunity for someone who is willing to start with the fundamentals and gradually develop their skills. Like any trade, becoming a skilled picture framer takes patience, commitment, repetition and a willingness to master the less glamorous tasks before progressing to the more creative work.
This role may suit you if you:
- Are a mature person seeking a new career direction.
- Have experience in woodworking, cabinet making, construction or another practical trade.
- Are tired of working outdoors and want to move into a creative, hands-on environment.
- Have exceptional attention to detail and pride in producing quality work.
- Possess good hand skills and practical problem-solving ability.
- Have an eye for design and a genuine interest in creative work.
- Are reliable, motivated and eager to learn.
- Are computer literate and comfortable learning new equipment and systems.
We welcome applications from people with a range of backgrounds and experience. Picture-framing experience is not essential, but a strong work ethic, dedication and willingness to commit to long-term training are essential.
The opportunity
The position may begin part time while initial training is undertaken, with the potential to progress to full time as your skills, confidence and experience develop.
This is an opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, work with quality equipment and develop a specialised trade that combines creativity, craftsmanship, precision and technical skill. You will be supported as you build your knowledge and gradually take on more complex and rewarding projects.
If you are looking for a meaningful long-term career where your practical abilities and creative ideas can come together, this could be the opportunity you have been waiting for.
