Trainer and Assessor – FBP30521 Certificate III in Baking (Casual / Part Time)

About the RTO:
Kordon Institute of Technology (RTO 121748) is a nationally recognised Registered Training Organisation specialising exclusively in Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment-only pathways. The organisation does not deliver structured training or classroom-based instruction. Instead, it assesses the existing skills, knowledge and workplace experience of experienced workers against the requirements of nationally recognised training package qualifications and units of competency.
The RTO currently offer RPL assessment services across qualifications within the hospitality, baking and project management training packages
Purpose of the Position:
The Trainer and Assessor is responsible for independently conducting high-quality Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessments for applicant seeking the award of FBP30521 Certificate III in Baking.
The role is responsible for assessing whether candidates have demonstrated competency against the requirements of nationally recognised units of competency by applying the Principles of Assessment, Rules of Evidence and the requirements of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2025.
The position plays an important role in ensuring assessment decisions are transparent, defensible and supported by sufficient evidence.
Key Responsibilities:
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
- Conduct RPL assessment for candidates seeking recognition towards all units within FBP30521 Certificate III in Baking
- Review documentary evidence, portfolios, workplace records, resumes, qualifications and third-party reports submitted by applicants.
- Verify authenticity of third-party evidence.
- Verify the authenticity, sufficiency, validity and currency of assessment evidence.
- Evaluate evidence against the elements, performance crtieria, performance evidence, knowledge evidence and assessment conditions of each unit.
- Identify evidence gaps and determine where additional evidence or assessment activities are required.
- Conduct structured competency conversations and professional discussions to confirm workplace skills, underpinning knowledge and verify vocational competency.
- Make objective evidence-based competency decisions against the requirements of each unit of competency.
- Record assessment decisions in accordance with KiT procedures.

- Ensure assessment decisions are fully supported by mapped evidence
- Maintain complete and accurate assessment records
- Participate in internal audits, validation and moderation activities
- Contribute to continuous improvement of RPL assessment tools and processes
- Identify opportunities to improve assessment quality and evidence collection.
Professional Currency
- Maintain current vocational competency and industry skills relevant to commercial baking.
- Maintain current knowledge of Training Package requirements and assessment practices.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and industry engagement.
- Maintain a current Trainer and Assessor Matrix.
- Participate in annual credential verifications.
Essential Selection Criteria:
Training and Assessment Credentials
Holds current training and assessment credentials that satisfy the standards for RTOs 2025 and Credential Policy.
Vocational Competency
Demonstrated vocational competency at least to the level being assessed, evidenced by:
- verified nationally recognised qualification in baking; or
- another verified qualification together with mapped vocational competence demonstrating equivalence at the level of FBP30521 Certificate III in Baking.
The applicant must be able to demonstrate competency against all units allocated for assessment.
Industry Experience
Demonstrated recent commercial baking experience, including experience across a range of bakery operations such as:
- Bread production
- Artisan bread production
- Pastry production
- Cake and dessert production
- Bakery production planning
- Bakery stock control
- Commercial bakery equipment
- Food safety and HACCP implementation
- Commercial bakery quality assurance.
Industry Currency
Evidence of ongoing current engagement with the commercial baking industry within the past three years through employment, self-employment, consultancy, auditing, production, mentoring or industry projects.
Assessment Capability
Demonstrated ability to:
- Assess workplace evidence
- Conduct competency conversations
- Evaluate third-party reports
- Apply the Principles of Assessment
- Apply the Rules of Evidence
- Document the assessment decisions.
Regulatory Knowledge
Working knowledge of:
- Standards for RTOs 2025
- RPL assessment practice
- AQF requirements
- Food, Beverage and Pharmaceutical Training Package
- Assessment validation and moderation.
Key Performance Indicators:
- RPL assessments completed within agreed service standards.
- Assessment decisions supported by sufficient, authentic, valid, current and reliable evidence.
- No significant compliance issues identified through internal or external audit.
- 100% completion of annual credential verification requirements.
- Trainer Matrix maintained and supported by current evidence.
- Annual industry currency and VET professional development completed.
- Participation in validation and moderation activities as scheduled.
- Assessment documentation completed accurately and retained in accordance with RTO policies.
- Compliance with all regulatory, quality assurance and assessment integrity requirements.

Pay: $32.02 – $71.24 per hour
