Reporting to the Manager, Café Operations, this role provides exceptional customer service to guests and clients across multiple café sites and a conference centre, ensuring a high standard of satisfaction throughout their experience.
You will provide professional food and beverage service across café, catering and conference operations, including preparing and serving beverages and basic food items, processing customer transactions, setting up and packing down event spaces and maintaining clean, organised and hygienic service areas.
The role also supports the effective day-to-day operation of café and venue catering services while maintaining food safety, hygiene, workplace health and safety and responsible service practices.
Reporting to the Manager, Café Operations, this position suits someone with previous café, restaurant or function centre experience who can provide exceptional customer service in a busy environment and work flexibly across varying shifts, locations and rosters.
What You'll Do
- Deliver friendly, efficient and professional customer service across café, catering and conference operations, responding to customer and guest enquiries and resolving service issues promptly and professionally
- Prepare and serve food and beverages in accordance with service standards, customer requirements and event specifications, including coffee and espresso-based drinks, basic food items, table service, buffet service and barista service where required
- Operate point-of-sale systems, process cash and electronic payments accurately and reconcile transactions in accordance with organisational procedures
- Prepare, set up, maintain and clear café, catering and conference service areas, including function spaces, room layouts, catering stations and audio-visual equipment as required
- Support the delivery of catering and conference events by working effectively with kitchen staff, event coordinators and other stakeholders to meet event and customer requirements
- Maintain knowledge of menu offerings and assist customers with special dietary requirements or preferences
- Support effective stock control through the receipt, storage, replenishment and rotation of stock and supplies
- Maintain clean, organised and hygienic service areas and follow food safety, hygiene and safe food-handling procedures in all tasks
- Demonstrate workplace health and safety practices, uphold Responsible Service of Alcohol requirements and report incidents, hazards, equipment faults, maintenance issues and stock shortages promptly
- Contribute positively to a collaborative team environment and work flexibly across café, catering and conference operations, varying shifts, locations and rosters
- Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate (Mandatory)
- Food Handling Certificate (Mandatory)
- Previous experience in a similar role within a café, restaurant or function centre
- Proven ability to provide exceptional customer service in a busy environment
- Competent in preparing and serving barista coffee and basic food items
- Ability to work a varied casual “Call In” roster, including weekdays, evenings and weekends
- Knowledge of Food and Beverage
- Previous teamwork experience
- Conference or event catering experience
