Join our Physiotherapy Team within Rehabilitation, Aged and Palliative Care (RAP)
Working as part of a collaborative allied health team at Flinders Medical Centre, provide essential support that keeps patient care moving forward.
About the role:
Accountable to the Allied Health Practitioners within RAP, the Allied health Assistant will be involved in assistance with patient care as directed whilst undertaking duties to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning of clinical areas and equipment, and undertaking administrative support as required.
This role involves working specifically with the Physiotherapists and patients in our innovative Amputee Rehabilitation as well as Day Rehabilitation services. There may also be an opportunity or be required to work across other services within the division. You will be well supported to upskill as required to these unique roles.
Duties for the role will include:
Provide specific therapeutic interventions under direction of AHP staff
Monitoring patient response to therapies and reporting to the supervising AHP
Assisting patient in personal care needs to maintain privacy, cleanliness and dignity before, during and after therapy interventions
Assisting with patient movement and/or physical tasks as part of a directed therapy intervention
Accurately maintain documentation under the explicit direction of the supervising AHP.
Participating and engaging in workplace health and safety procedures
Under instruction from AHP therapist, lead group based therapy for relevant patients
About you:
Must possess or be undertaking a Certificate 3 in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent
Demonstrated aptitude for work in a healthcare environment
Ability to work under close supervision and direction from Allied Health Professionals
Ability to attend to routine work on a daily basis
Ability to use documented resources such as policies and procedures and work instructions to enable safe work practices
Sound communication and interpersonal skills – able to demonstrate the ability to work with people from a variety of cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment to assist patient therapy and / or handling of patient related equipment and devices

This role attracts a fixed allowance that ensures a minimum salary equivalent to AHA2 (third increment) pro-rated, based on the Undertaking as within the Allied Health Professionals, Assistants and Psychologists Enterprise Agreement 2025.
