About the Role
As our Payroll & People Assistant, you'll play a key role in supporting the day-to-day payroll and HR administration functions. Working closely with the People & Culture team, you'll help ensure payroll is processed accurately while providing administrative support across the employee lifecycle.
This role is ideal for someone looking to build their career across both Payroll and People & Culture while working alongside experienced leaders in a collaborative and supportive environment. You'll gain valuable exposure to payroll compliance, HR administration, and people operations within a growing organisation.
Your Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and processing of payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant legislation.
- Process employee changes including new starters, terminations, leave, salary adjustments, and employment variations.
- Maintain accurate employee records within HR and payroll systems.
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes, including preparing employment documentation and coordinating system updates.
- Respond to payroll and HR-related enquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Assist with payroll reporting, reconciliations, and compliance activities.
- Ensure employee records and payroll information are managed with the highest level of confidentiality.
- Support the wider People & Culture team with administrative tasks and continuous process improvements.
About You
You'll be someone who enjoys working with both people and systems and has a genuine passion for delivering accurate, efficient payroll and HR support.
To be successful, you'll bring:
- 1–3 years' experience in payroll administration or a payroll-focused role.
- Practical experience processing payroll and supporting HR administration.
- Experience with Employment Hero HR and Payroll (highly desirable).
- A high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach.
- The ability to handle sensitive employee and payroll information with professionalism, discretion, and integrity.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office Suite and HR/payroll systems.
- A proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Pay: $55,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year
