Overview of role:
Coliban Water has embarked on an exciting project to build, implement and run an in-house Control Room. Sitting within the Assets & Operations group, the Control Room will provide greater visibility of Coliban Waters network assets and enable a quick response to issues that are identified.
Reporting to the Control Room Manager, the Control Room Operator will help to anticipate, identify, monitor and respond to operational changes in our water and sewerage infrastructure. This will support our goal to deliver 100% service reliability to our customers 24/7, and to protect the environment.
This role will initially commence operations in business hours, however as the Control Room expands shift work over a 24/7 basis will be required as part of this role, including on weekends and public holidays. This role will also be required to be rostered on an on-call duty roster
A snapshot of your day
This role will be responsible for:
Monitoring of alarms and critical control points for water and sewer infrastructure.
Interpreting alarms and operational data to identify emerging issues.
Monitoring of CCTV and safety systems.
Communicate identified issues and provide operational assistance.
Preparation of workorders for field staff.
Provide feedback and assist with the improvement of monitoring systems and SCADA alarms.
Taking calls from members of the public for after-hours faults and emergencies.
Provide real time operational guidance and information to customer service team.
Play a central role in Incident Management.
Provide mentoring to new staff.
To be considered for this role, it would be beneficial to have a Certificate III or IV in Water Operations or equivalent relevant experience. Alternatively, demonstrated previous experience in a control room or call centre environment will also be considered.

Salary:
The salary and conditions for this position will be as per the Coliban Water Enterprise Agreement 2021 Band 3 ($74,200 - $90,097+ superannuation) salary range will be offered to the successful candidate commensurate with their skills and experience. Please note that additional allowances are provided for weekend, evening and night shifts on top of the base salary.
