About the Role
A leading contract mining business, working on behalf of a major Queensland coal producer, is looking for a Management Accountant to join their site finance team in the Bowen Basin.
You'll report to the site Finance Manager in a small, tight-knit team, working alongside the operational leaders you support. You won't be one of thirty accountants in a shared services function. Your work will be visible, it will be used, and you will see the results of it on the ground.
The role is permanent and site-based on a 5:2 roster. You'll either be accommodated in the site camp during your working week, or live locally in the region with subsidised housing.
Candidates already based in the Bowen, Mackay or Whitsundays area are well placed, and we're equally keen to hear from Brisbane and regional Queensland accountants ready to make the move north.
What You'll Be Doing
- Delivering end-of-month reporting and close activities on time, every month
- Running monthly cost reviews, including analysis of key variances to budget
- Owning the cost build-ups that drive the annual budget and quarterly forecasting cycles
- Business partnering with operational leaders to build financial awareness across the site
- Identifying financial risk early and making sure practices stay in line with company policy
- Communicating with internal and external stakeholders across the operation
What You'll Bring
- CA or CPA qualified, or well progressed
- Post-qualification experience in management accounting, project accounting or cost control
- Mining or heavy industry exposure highly regarded
- JDE experience highly regarded
- Strong Excel skills
- Genuine technical rigour and high attention to detail. This is a hands-on role and accuracy matters
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and juggle competing priorities
- A collaborative, team-first approach. Small team, high trust, everyone contributes
- Interpersonal skills to communicate and influence across a site environment

- $120,000 to $150,000 base + superannuation, depending on experience
