Wildlife Rescue Volunteers assist with the rescue and support of sick, injured, and orphaned native wildlife. Volunteers play a vital role in responding to emergency calls, supporting trained rescue staff, and ensuring animals receive timely and appropriate care.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on training and allocation, volunteers may be involved in:
1. Rescue Support (Field Volunteers)
- Attending wildlife rescue call-outs with trained responders
- Safely assisting in the capture and handling of native wildlife
- Supporting animal stabilisation at rescue sites
- Following safety and animal welfare protocols at all times

2. Transport Duties
- Transporting wildlife to veterinary clinics, carers, or rehabilitation facilities
- Ensuring animals are securely contained and monitored during transport
- Completing basic transport logs and handover notes
3. Triage & Intake Support
- Assisting with initial assessment of injured wildlife under supervision
- Recording basic case information (location, species, condition)
- Supporting Rescue Coordinators during intake calls or case logging
