Job Description
SGS is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our Grain Laboratory team in East Brisbane on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity to build your laboratory career within a global organisation recognised for quality, integrity and technical excellence.
You will play an important role in ensuring grain samples are prioritised, tested accurately and reported within agreed turnaround times. You will work with approved analytical test methods, follow laboratory quality systems and support the safe, efficient operation of the Grain Quality Laboratory.
What you’ll be doing

Carry out accurate grain sample testing using approved laboratory methods and quality standards.

Operate, calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to support reliable and efficient testing.

Support quality control activities, audits and proficiency trials to help maintain trusted results.

Follow ISO/IEC 17025, biosecurity and SGS procedures to maintain a safe, compliant laboratory.

Assist with consumables, stock control and laboratory housekeeping to keep operations running smoothly.

Work closely with the team to manage priorities, support workflow and meet turnaround times.

Contribute ideas that improve laboratory processes, testing methods and overall service quality.
Qualifications
What you’ll bring

A scientific qualification or sound scientific knowledge gained through experience in a laboratory environment.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow approved methods and procedures.

Sound computer literacy and confidence working with laboratory systems and documentation.

Good communication skills and a collaborative approach to working in a team environment.

Previous experience in a NATA accredited laboratory or the grain industry will be highly regarded.
