Metal Fabrication Production and Workshop Manager
Prince Fabrications – Wetherill Park, NSW | Full-time | Competitive remuneration based on experience
About Us
At Prince Fabrications, we're a proud, family-run steel fabrication business based in Wetherill Park. With a strong reputation for quality workmanship and reliability, we deliver custom fabrication projects across the commercial, industrial, and infrastructure sectors. Our team takes pride in doing things right — safely, efficiently, and to a high standard every time.
About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on Production and Workshop Manager to lead our busy fabrication workshop. This is not an office-based management role — you'll be on the floor, leading from the front, while overseeing daily operations, managing team performance, and ensuring every project leaves the workshop meeting our quality, safety, and delivery standards.
Much of our work is complex and bespoke structural and architectural steel, so you'll need the fabrication depth and understanding to review and understand complex and detailed drawings, resolve technical issues, and hold the workshop to tight tolerances. QA/QC and welding supervision are a core part of the role — you'll own quality outcomes, not just production output.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, support, and motivate a team of tradespeople and apprentices
- Plan and coordinate daily production schedules and resources
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, safely, and to specification
- QA/QC and welding supervision to maintain quality and compliance
- Review complex fabrication drawings, resolve technical issues, and support production readiness
- Implement and improve workshop programs, systems, and processes to boost efficiency and consistency
- Oversee stock control, purchasing, and supplier relationships
- Manage material flow, deliveries, and workshop maintenance
- Foster teamwork and strong communication between workshop, design, and site teams
- Conduct toolbox talks and maintain WHS standards and documentation
- Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the business
About You
- Strong, proven management experience leading fabrication teams — you know how to run a workshop, not just work in one
- A solid work history in complex and bespoke structural steel fabrication is a must
- Qualified trade background — Boilermaker / Metal Fabricator
- Hands-on by nature — comfortable on the tools and on the floor, not behind a desk
- Strong QA/QC capability, including welding quality control and inspection
- Familiarity with AS/NZS ISO 3834 weld quality management and AS/NZS 5131 construction categories (CC2) will be highly regarded
- Experience implementing workshop systems or improvement programs
- Results-driven, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communicator, organised and reliable, with great attention to detail
- Forklift licence and driver's licence highly regarded
- Full, unrestricted working rights in Australia required
Why Join Prince Fabrications?
- Family-owned business with a strong reputation and loyal client base
- Supportive, down-to-earth team culture
- Hands-on role with real responsibility and variety
- Competitive pay and long-term stability
Please note: Applicants must already be based in Australia with full, unrestricted working rights (Australian/NZ citizens or permanent residents). We are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.
Pay: $100,000.00 – $150,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
