Lead the planning, design, and delivery of electrical infrastructure projects for Optus Technical Facilities, ensuring current and future power requirements are met.
The role is responsible for identifying infrastructure needs, developing and implementing cost-effective solutions, managing vendors and stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with relevant electrical standards and regulations across LV systems, UPS, batteries, generators, lightning protection, and earthing systems.
This role is also open to Melbourne applicants.
Your day to day will consist of
Develop and maintain multi-year electrical infrastructure strategies to meet current and future capacity, resilience, and operational requirements for Optus technical facilities.
Identify infrastructure deficiencies, assess risks, and design innovative, cost-effective solutions to support business growth and reliability.
Lead the planning, design, scoping, business case development, and delivery of electrical infrastructure projects, including LV systems, UPS, batteries, generators, lightning, and earthing systems.
Manage stakeholders, vendors, consultants, and contractors to ensure successful project outcomes and strong working relationships.
Oversee project governance, budgets, forecasting, reporting, procurement, and contract management to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Ensure all designs, construction activities, and project deliverables comply with Australian standards, legislation, safety requirements, and Optus policies.
Drive end-to-end project implementation, commissioning, testing, and handover while supporting operational continuity and ongoing asset performance improvements.
What makes you perfect for the role
Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering with 15+ years' experience in critical infrastructure, building services, and construction projects.
Strong technical expertise in telecommunications facilities and data centres, with special focus on electrical, mechanical, fire, security, and structural systems.
Extensive knowledge of LV electrical systems, UPS, batteries, emergency generators, lightning protection, earthing, and DC power infrastructure.
Proven experience in risk management, engineering standards development, and compliance with the Building Code of Australia and Australian Standards.
Demonstrated commercial and procurement capability, managing CAPEX budgets of $2M-$5M and delivering cost-effective sourcing outcomes. Strategic leadership skills with the ability to develop business cases, lead project teams, manage stakeholders, and drive project delivery.
Strong communication, relationship-building, organisation, and customer-focused skills, combined with advanced Microsoft Office proficiency.
