About the role:
This position is responsible for providing expert technical leadership expertise and advice to support reticulated and non-reticulated drinking water policies aimed at protecting public health from hazards in water. It contributes and implements state and national-level policy and guidance and supports relevant national water reference groups and committees including state representation.
The position requires strategic leadership and management capability, mentoring of staff and a collaborative approach.

About you:

Provide advanced technical and scientific leadership and expertise to support reticulated and non-reticulated drinking water policies aiming to protect public health from hazards in water.

Participate in an on-call out-of-hours roster to provide specialist expertise for incidents and emergencies.

Contribute strategic thinking towards future directions regarding impacts of water-related hazards on public health and identify and proactively provide advice on emerging and immediate public health risks.

Develop, review and/or contribute to water-related technical or professional standards, policies and guidance at state and national levels.
Qualification/Specialist Expertise
A tertiary qualification in fields related to public health, such as engineering and environmental/microbiological sciences especially in relation to reticulated and non-reticulated drinking water.

Relevant post-graduate qualifications are highly desirable.
Demonstrated knowledge of risks to reticulated and non-reticulated drinking water expertise in risk assessment, risk communication and risk management.

Experience working in government, public sector or water authority highly regarded.
