The office of the Hon Matt Thistlethwaite MP is seeking applications for a full-time ongoing Executive Assistant (Electorate Officer B), based in the Kingsford Smith Electorate office in Maroubra, NSW.
About the Position
The role is critical to the effective operation of the Member’s office, working closely with the Member and broader team to coordinate daily operations, manage competing priorities, and ensuring effective communication between Ministerial and Electorate offices.
The position is suited to an individual who thrives in a dynamic political setting, demonstrates strong organisational and problem-solving capabilities, and is committed to the successful delivery of Government priorities and community outcomes.
The key duties of the position are, but not limited to:
- Providing executive support including, diary management, travel coordination and meeting logistics.
- Managing invitations, assist with coordination of meetings and briefings, and support planning and delivery of Ministerial visits, events and electorate engagements.
- Liaise with Ministerial offices, government departments and stakeholders to support communication and issue resolution.
- Assist with compliance activities, including, travel, entitlements and reporting requirements.
- Support the coordination between the Electorate and Ministerial offices to ensure consistent and responsive service delivery.
The ideal applicant should possess the following skills, qualifications, and experience:
- Demonstrated experience in an Executive Assistant, Diary Manager or comparable role in dynamic environment.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and cooperatively within a small team.
- Sound knowledge of the political landscape and the Australian parliamentary and political processes is desirable.
Competence in using Windows software programs including, but not limited to, Outlook, Word, Teams, Excel.
Employment Conditions:
The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2024 - 2027 which include:
- A commencing salary of between $76,910 and $89,793 will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills.
- An additional Electorate Support Allowance of up to $30,187 may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for reasonable additional hours of work.
- The salary and allowance above are subject to a 3.4% increase from 5 August 2026.
- Relocation assistance, studies assistance and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements).
- An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable.

- The successful applicant may be required to undergo a National Police History Check.
- Applicants are required to obtain and maintain security clearance at Negative Vetting Level 2 and comply with the Ministerial Staff Code of Conduct.
- Staff may be subject to automatic cessation triggers in accordance with section 14 of the MOP(S) Act.
