Our Client, Ahi Thai Cuisine is a well-established Thai restaurant located in Waterford West, Queensland, renowned for delivering authentic Thai cuisine using traditional recipes, fresh ingredients, and modern culinary techniques. The restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring classic Thai dishes, wok-fried specialties, curries, noodles, and regional delicacies.
Ahi Thai Cuisine is seeking an experienced and passionate Wok Chef to join our kitchen team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking authentic Thai cuisine, particularly wok-based dishes, while maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, and kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, season and cook a variety of authentic Thai dishes including wok-fried specialties, noodle dishes, curries, stir-fries, seafood, poultry, and meat-based meals.
- Develop and contribute to the creation of menus, seasonal specials, and new dishes that reflect authentic Thai culinary traditions and customer preferences.
- Prepare sauces, curry pastes, marinades, spice blends, and other specialty ingredients required for Thai cuisine.
- Monitor the quality of raw ingredients and finished dishes to ensure consistency, freshness, taste, and presentation standards are maintained.
- Supervise and coordinate food preparation and cooking activities during service periods to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
- Train, guide, and supervise kitchen staff in Thai cooking techniques, food preparation methods, portion control, presentation standards, and workplace procedures.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Manage stock levels, order food supplies, inspect deliveries, and oversee inventory control and stock rotation procedures.
- Monitor food costs, portion sizes, and wastage to maximise operational efficiency and profitability.
- Cater for customer dietary requirements and special requests while maintaining authentic flavour profiles and presentation standards.
- Examine cooking processes and prepared dishes to ensure compliance with restaurant quality standards.
- Collaborate with management to improve menu offerings, kitchen procedures, and overall customer satisfaction.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment at all times.
Skills & Experience Required
- Diploma level qualification in relevant field required.
- The Candidate have at least 1 year of experience in a busy restaurant.
- Knowledge of Thai cooking techniques, ingredients, flavours, and traditional recipes.
- Experience operating commercial wok stations in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards.
Salary: $75,000 - $85,000 per annum plus Superannuation
