The Role
We are currently seeking an experienced and compassionate Mental Health Support Worker to provide specialised support to an NDIS participant with complex mental health needs.
This is an ongoing opportunity for someone who is confident supporting individuals with psychosocial disabilities and has experience using trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and person-centred approaches. Flexible scheduling is available to suit both the participant and the successful applicant.

About the Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing high-quality, trauma-informed support to participants with complex mental health presentations.
- Building therapeutic, professional relationships based on trust, respect, and consistency.
- Supporting participants to develop emotional regulation, coping strategies, resilience, and independence.
- Assisting with daily living skills, community participation, appointments, and social engagement.
- Supporting participants through periods of emotional distress using de-escalation and positive behaviour support strategies where appropriate.
- Monitoring changes in mental health and wellbeing and reporting concerns promptly.
- Implementing support plans, behaviour support plans, and recovery-focused goals.
- Encouraging skill development, confidence, and community inclusion.
- Maintaining accurate documentation and communicating effectively with families, support coordinators, allied health professionals, and the Beyond Health Services team.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Certificate IV in Mental Health, Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, Diploma of Mental Health, or another relevant qualification (highly regarded).
- Demonstrated experience supporting individuals with complex mental health conditions and psychosocial disabilities.
- A strong understanding of trauma-informed practice, recovery-oriented care, and person-centred support.
- Experience supporting people living with conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, complex PTSD, severe anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, or other complex mental health presentations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and professional boundaries.
- The ability to remain calm, patient, and responsive in challenging situations.
- Strong observation, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting people to achieve their goals and improve their quality of life.
NDIS Compliance
Applicants must hold (or be willing to obtain):
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
- National Police Check
- Working with Children Check (where applicable)
- Current Driver's Licence and reliable, insured vehicle
- ABN (if working as a contractor)
