The Nutrition and Health Innovation Research Institute sits in the School of Medical and Health Sciences, home to teaching and research in Medical and Biomedical Sciences, Allied Health, and Exercise and Sports Sciences, as well as in Public, Occupational and Environmental Health. Our world-class research is rapidly translated to provide solutions to some of the key health issues facing our community.
About the Opportunity
Are you interested in delivering impactful, policy-relevant research on food environments and how they shape public health - particularly the health of children and young people?
We are seeking a Research Fellow (Level B) to advance research impact in our multidisciplinary research program. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and supportive team working to create meaningful, real-world impact.
The Food Environments Team at ECU’s Nutrition & Health Innovation Research Institute is a national leader in food environments research. In collaboration with State and Local Governments, health agencies, urban planners, and community stakeholders, we generate evidence to inform policies and interventions for healthier, more equitable, and sustainable food environments.
Some of our current projects include: young people’s interactions with food environments; food environments surrounding schools; interventions in retail food settings; and natural experiments evaluating policy and environmental change.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will be a self-starter with a PhD and strong public health research skills, demonstrated ability to produce high-quality academic outputs, and able to work flexibly and effectively across a multidisciplinary team. Experience in public health policy or research translation would be an advantage. Applicants should describe how they meet these criteria in a cover letter of no more than 2 pages and provide an up-to-date resume summarising their experience and achievements relevant to this role.
