About this position
Are you passionate about information management, records governance, and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements? The City of Gosnells is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Retention and Disposal Officer to join our Information Management Services team. In this important role, you will help ensure the City's records are managed, preserved, and disposed of appropriately in accordance with legislative and best practice requirements.
Reporting to the Information Management Services Coordinator, you will play a key role in delivering efficient and effective records management services across the organisation. You will coordinate the City's retention and disposal program, manage inactive records, support preservation initiatives, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of information management practices.
What we are looking for
To be successful, you must be able to demonstrate:

Demonstrated experience in records or information management.

Strong knowledge of records management legislation, standards, and best practices.

An understanding of the State Records Act 2000 and disposal authorities relevant to local government.

Experience managing retention and disposal activities, preferably within a local government environment.

Sound computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office applications and electronic document and records management systems (EDRMS).

Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Essential requirements

Tertiary qualification in Records Management, Information Management, Archives, Library Studies or a related discipline, or substantial progress towards.

Current driver's licence.

National Police Clearance (no more than three months old). Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role but will be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition.
Desirable requirements

Experience using TechnologyOne ECM, including Records Management and Retention & Disposal modules

Experience in archival preservation, vital records management or offsite storage administration

Demonstrated high-level scanning, data entry and computer literacy skills
-
Knowledge of local government records management requirements and the State Records Act 2000
