Join Our Canberra Montessori School Community: We’re Hiring a School-Based Wellbeing Officer (Part-Time)
Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 (Full Time Equivelant)
Hours: 1–2 days per week
At Canberra Montessori School, we believe that wellbeing is at the heart of learning. We're looking for a caring and dedicated School-Based Wellbeing Officer to join our community and support the emotional, social, and mental wellbeing of our students.
This part-time role offers a wonderful opportunity to walk alongside our young people, families, and staff, building a school environment where everyone feels safe, supported, and valued.
About the Role:
As our School-Based Wellbeing Officer, you’ll play a key role in:
- Supporting students’ mental health and wellbeing through one-on-one support, group activities, and referrals when needed
- Creating a warm and inclusive school culture where every student feels seen and respected
- Collaborating with teachers, families, and local services to wrap care around our young people
- Upholding and promoting child safety and the rights of every student
- Supporting our ongoing journey of cultural integrity by valuing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and communities
What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking someone who:
- Has a genuine heart for working with young people and helping them thrive
- Holds a valid Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) card (general registration)
- Holds a minimum qualification at Certificate IV level or higher, including training in Mental health, Youth work or pastoral care and making appropriate referrals
- Is committed to completing the eSafety Commissioner's training in cyberbullying within the first 3 months of the role (with ongoing refreshers every 2.5 years); if not yet done so
- Understands and respects the values, beliefs, and diversity of our school community
- Works within child safety guidelines and is aware of all relevant legislation around working with children, mandatory reporting, and child protection
We’d Love if You Also Have:
- Previous experience working in a school or youth-focused setting
- Completed or are willing to undertake Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness training
