Excavator Operator

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Excavator Operator to join our team at our Para Hills West yard. This role is critical to our waste recovery and recycling operations, involving the sorting and processing of construction and demolition waste in a fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with a team of labourers and truck drivers to ensure efficient site operations, maintain productivity targets, and uphold safety standards at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate excavators safely and efficiently to sort and process construction and demolition waste.
- Work collaboratively with labourers and truck drivers to maintain smooth yard operations.
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills by guiding and supporting team members to achieve daily operational goals.
- Conduct daily pre-start inspections and ensure all machinery is operating safely and effectively.
- Perform routine greasing, cleaning, and maintenance of company machinery and equipment.
- Identify and report mechanical issues or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Maintain a high level of attention to detail when sorting materials and monitoring site operations.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Contribute positively to a team-focused workplace culture.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Proven experience operating excavators in a construction, waste management, recycling, or similar environment.
- Strong team leadership capabilities with the ability to motivate and support others.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
- Strong understanding of machinery care and preventative maintenance practices.
