About the Role
View Melbourne is seeking an experienced Night Manager to join our Front Office leadership team. This is a full-time, permanent overnight position with a fixed roster that includes two consecutive set days off each week, providing a level of consistency and routine uncommon in hotel operations.
Reporting to the Front Office Manager, the Night Manager is the most senior member of staff on the property overnight. You will oversee the operation of a 206-room independent hotel serving a diverse mix of corporate travellers, leisure guests, and visitors connected to the Alfred Hospital precinct. During the overnight period, you will be responsible for decisions that carry genuine outcomes for the guest experience, the team, and the business.
What the Role Involves
You will oversee all front office operations throughout the night, including late check-ins, early departures, room allocation, and complaint resolution, while ensuring the property is presented and operating to standard throughout your shift.
A central responsibility is managing the night audit — processing financial adjustments and reconciliations, balancing accounts, and preparing the property for the incoming morning team. You will manage VIPs and late arrivals, independently resolve escalated guest concerns, and take the lead on any after-hours situations that arise.
As the senior person on-site overnight, you will hold primary responsibility for the safety and security of guests, the team, and the property, including emergency response, building monitoring, and ensuring that health, safety, and security obligations are met.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a self-reliant operator with the composure to independently manage the property and exercise sound judgement. The ideal candidate will offer:
- 2–3 years of hotel operations experience, including at least one year in a supervisory, duty management, or night management capacity
- Demonstrated experience managing a diverse guest mix in an accommodation environment
- Confident, independent decision-making under pressure
- Strong communication skills, both within a team and with guests
- Experience with property management systems and night audit processes; familiarity with Infor HMS is an advantage
- Valid Australian work authorisation or an appropriate work visa is required
Current RSA and First Aid/CPR certifications, or the willingness to obtain them, are also required.
Who We're Looking For
View Melbourne is an independent hotel, and this shapes the role's character from one night to the next. There are no standardised career frameworks applied uniformly across hundreds of properties; your development will be based on what you bring to the role and the direction you wish to take. You will work alongside a Front Office Manager who actively mentors and builds team culture, and a General Manager who takes a direct and genuine interest in the people around them.
If you value the independence of managing a shift on your own terms, the stability of a fixed roster with set days off, and the trust that comes with taking ownership of the property overnight, View is the hotel for you.
What We Offer
In addition to a competitive salary, we provide a staff meal on every shift, on-site parking, uniform and dry cleaning — all free of charge.
