Details: Do you enjoy working on complex regulatory, policy and governance matters and want to play a key role in shaping the regulatory environment for essential utility services in the ACT? If so, this opportunity may be for you.
A Senior Regulatory Officer position is available within the Utilities Technical Regulation (UTR) team until September 2028. UTR supports the Technical Regulator by providing advice on a broad range of technical and regulatory matters relating to licensed and unlicensed utilities, helping to ensure electricity, gas and water services are delivered safely and reliably to the ACT community. Applications are sought from experienced people who can apply their experience to support the development of regulatory settings and contribute to the delivery of regulatory projects and outcomes.
The successful candidate will work with utilities, consultants, government agencies and multidisciplinary teams to support the Technical Regulator in the delivery of regulatory functions. They will lead the development of regulatory settings, provide strategic and operational compliance advice, coordinate stakeholder engagement, and contribute to legislative and regulatory reforms affecting utility services in the Territory.
The successful candidate must have highly developed communication skills, including the ability to develop high-quality written documentation such as advice on utility operational matters, briefs, legislative instruments, technical codes, compliance reports, and ministerial correspondence. The role also requires the ability to work effectively with technical, policy and utility experts and communicate clearly with stakeholders from both technical and non-technical backgrounds.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in a demonstrably relevant field would be highly desirable.

Experience in a regulatory environment, within a utility or policy area, is highly desirable.
Notes: This is a temporary position available for a period of 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 24 months.
A Merit pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Please note, this position will be in a new workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
