Support Worker – Community Access Support

Assigned Guardian Angel is seeking compassionate, reliable, and experienced Support Workers to assist a 39-year-old male participant living with a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) .
This role involves providing attendant care, home and living support, and community access assistance to help the participant achieve greater independence and improve overall quality of life.
About the Participant
- Lives independently
- Mobilises using a wheelie walker and mobility scooter
- Requires support with communication, memory, self-regulation, and complex decision-making
- Enjoys camping, fishing, and community outings
Key Responsibilities
- Assistance with home and living supports
- Community access and transport assistance using support worker vehicle
- Support attending appointments including GP, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, and specialist appointments
- Assistance understanding and responding to formal communication
- Supporting emotional regulation and providing calm reassurance when participant becomes distressed or overwhelmed
- Encouraging independence and goal progression
- Assisting with planning schedules and daily routines
Essential Criteria
- Experience supporting individuals with brain injury, neurological conditions, or psychosocial disabilities
- Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain calm and supportive in emotionally heightened situations
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current First Aid & CPR
- Valid driver’s licence and insured vehicle
- Willingness to work collaboratively with allied health professionals and external services
Desirable
- Experience with trauma-informed care
- Knowledge of cognitive impairments and emotional regulation strategies
- Interest in outdoor activities such as fishing or camping
