Built isn’t waiting for the future. We’re building it.
If you're a senior data engineer looking to step into a role with greater influence, this is your opportunity to shape an enterprise-wide data environment from the ground up. You'll work with modern Microsoft technologies, solve complex business challenges and help define the future of data and AI at Built.
The Opportunity
As our Lead Data & AI Engineer, you'll play a key role in building the data foundations that will support how Built makes decisions, measures performance and adopts AI across the business.
You'll have the opportunity to:
- Shape our Microsoft Fabric-based data environment while remaining hands-on with the technology.
- Build and evolve the data platform that underpins reporting, analytics and future AI capability.
- Create trusted datasets and models that make it easier for teams to access and use data.
- Explore practical applications of AI and help bring new solutions into the business.
- Set engineering standards and mentor other engineers as the team grows.
- Partner with business leaders to solve real problems and deliver measurable outcomes.
What We Are Looking For
You're a technically strong data engineer who can combine architecture thinking with hands-on delivery. You enjoy solving complex problems, working closely with stakeholders and building data capabilities that enable better decisions, analytics and AI outcomes.
You'll bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience delivering modern data, software, analytics or AI solutions in complex environments.
- Experience working in an AI-native agentic software delivery environment.
- Strong capability across data modelling, engineering and scalable data architecture.
- Experience working with modern cloud-based data platforms, ideally Microsoft Fabric.
- A commitment to engineering best practice and delivering high-quality, maintainable solutions.
- Experience evaluating and implementing practical AI use cases.
- The ability to mentor others and contribute to technical standards and engineering capability across a team.
