Cannabis Doctors Tasmania is expanding and is looking for a General Practitioner to join our clinician-led telehealth practice.
We provide specialist medicinal cannabis consultations for patients living with chronic and treatment-resistant medical conditions throughout Australia. As an independently owned private clinic, our focus is on delivering high-quality patient care in an environment that supports clinical independence and professional satisfaction.

Our practice is funded entirely through consultation fees. We do not receive commissions, incentives or financial support from pharmacies, medication manufacturers or product suppliers, ensuring every prescribing decision remains solely with the treating doctor.
Flexible Working Arrangements
Whether you're looking for a small additional session each week or wish to establish a substantial telehealth practice, we can accommodate your availability.
Doctors may book appointments between 8:00am and 9:00pm, seven days a week, making it easy to balance work with family commitments, hospital appointments, general practice, or specialist training.
With strong patient demand and continued growth within our practice, new clinicians can typically expect their appointment books to fill quickly.
Remuneration
Doctors are remunerated through a percentage of billings.
Consultation Fees
- Initial consultation (30 minutes): $139
- Follow-up consultation (15 minutes): $99
Indicative Hourly Earnings
Initial consultations:
Approximately $166–181+ per hour
Follow-up consultations:
Approximately $238–257+ per hour
As doctors establish their patient base, follow-up consultations generally make up an increasing proportion of their workload, with most clinicians earning somewhere between these ranges depending on their appointment mix.
The Position
You will conduct telehealth consultations for patients with chronic and complex medical conditions who have experienced inadequate symptom relief using conventional therapies.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Performing comprehensive patient assessments
- Reviewing medical history and previous treatment responses
- Determining whether medicinal cannabis is an appropriate treatment option
- Developing personalised management plans
- Providing ongoing review and monitoring
- Liaising with patients' usual healthcare providers to support collaborative care
Our experienced administration team manages bookings, patient enquiries, prescription processing and day-to-day coordination so that doctors can concentrate on clinical care.

About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Current AHPRA registration
- A minimum of three years' clinical experience
- Strong communication and consultation skills
- Confidence delivering care via telehealth
- An interest in chronic disease management and complex patient care
Previous experience prescribing medicinal cannabis is not essential.
