The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer and stronger Victoria.
The Corporate Strategy and Delivery group delivers essential corporate and enabling services and specialist support, allowing the department to operate efficiently and effectively
Data, Performance and Governance is tasked with supporting the Chief Operating Officer in leading the department's agenda in delivery of justice and community safety services in Victoria by providing a strong evidence base for the development of effective policy and organisational management.
Ministerial Services will comprise several business units, including Ministerial Services and Coordination, Policy Reform and Programs and Redress Design. These business units are responsible for providing critical departmental and Ministerial coordination support and delivering essential family violence programs and crime prevention grants.
What you will do
As Senior Departmental Liaison Officer, you will help the Minister's office and department work together. You will manage sensitive information and provide clear, timely and accurate support.
You will:
- coordinate timely information and advice between the Minister's office and department staff.
- manage briefs, correspondence and papers so information reaches the right people.
- support Cabinet, parliamentary and legislative work, including questions, briefings and other requests.
- maintain clear records and help staff find the right information and contacts.
- provide high-level support to the Minister's office and help colleagues meet changing priorities.
About you
A tertiary qualification is desirable. Relevant experience in a government environment is also desirable.
You should understand public sector work and handle sensitive matters with care. You should communicate clearly, stay calm under pressure and adapt to changing needs.
You should also have:
- knowledge of parliamentary, Cabinet and legislative processes, or a strong interest in learning them.
- knowledge of department business, processes and procedures.
- strong skills using Microsoft Office and Adobe Pro.
- working knowledge of the department's Electronic Briefing and Correspondence system and TRIM is highly regarded.
