Are you a practical, reliable, and hands-on maintenance professional who enjoys variety in your day? Aeralife is seeking a Maintenance Officer to provide day-to-day maintenance support across our 5 Victorian aged care residences, helping ensure each home is safe, well-presented, and comfortable for residents, families, and staff.
You will travel between our Victorian nursing homes to support the Home Maintenance Officer. Some of the responsibilities will include completing repairs, preventative maintenance, room set-ups, site checks, and practical support where it is needed most.

The Opportunity
As a Maintenance Officer , you will provide practical maintenance support and leave coverage across Aeralife’s Victorian residences. Working closely with each Residence Manager and supported by the Maintenance Manager, you will help keep our buildings, grounds, equipment, and plant safe, functional, and well maintained.
Your focus will be on getting things done: completing general repairs, preventative maintenance, audits, basic compliance tasks, contractor liaison, and site support. This role suits someone who enjoys being on the tools, moving between sites and solving practical problems.

What You will Be Doing
You will:
- Provide roving maintenance support and leave coverage across Victorian residences.
- Complete general repairs, painting, minor improvements, and day-to-day maintenance tasks
- Conduct preventative maintenance checks, site audits, and quality inspections.
- Assist with resident room set-up, presentation, and turnaround.
- Monitor equipment, tools, chemicals, and maintenance supplies to ensure they are used safely.
- Maintain maintenance records, asset information and schedules as required.
- Support fire safety, test and tag, asbestos register, and other compliance requirements within the scope of the role.
- Coordinate with approved contractors, support inductions and monitor work being completed on site.
- Obtain quotes for approved maintenance works when requested.
- Promote safe work practices and promptly report hazards or maintenance risks.
- Build positive working relationships with site teams, residents, and families through respectful, reliable service.
About You
You are a dependable maintenance all-rounder who enjoys hands-on work, travel between sites and helping keep aged care homes running smoothly. You take pride in doing practical work well, communicate respectfully, follow safe work practices and are comfortable working independently while staying connected with site teams and managers.
To Be Successful, You Will Bring
- Experience in general maintenance, facilities support, handyman work, or a similar hands-on role
- Confidence completing basic repairs, painting, room set-ups, and practical maintenance tasks.
- A trade background or qualification in building, carpentry, painting or a related area is desirable but not essential.
- A strong safety mindset and understanding of safe work practices.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritise tasks across different sites.
- Clear, respectful communication skills with residents, families, contractors, and team members
- Basic computer literacy and willingness to use maintenance systems.
- Ability and willingness to travel between Aeralife residences across Victoria.
- Current Australian Driver Licence
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to obtain one.
- Full Australian working rights
- COVID-19 vaccination status is highly recommended.
