About the role
School Infrastructure is delivering new school buildings, major upgrades and maintenance strategies to ensure every early-learning and school-aged child has access to high quality education facilities at their local public school. This encompasses the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.
This role sits within Infrastructure Planning as part of Strategic Infrastructure Services (SIS) operating within an Integrated Operating Model where clarity, consistency and accountability is embedded in delivering school infrastructure.
The purpose of this role is to perform project management and support activities to contribute to the development and delivery of a range of projects and programmes, ensuring financial requirements are met and obligations to external partners are fulfilled, according to established objectives. This role is an opportunity to help shape the future by supporting the Department’s commitment to delivering high-quality education facilities for the NSW community.
Key Accountabilities:
- Deliver a broad range of project management and coordination activities, including developing project plans, preparing high-quality briefs and reports, managing project documentation, and coordinating resources to ensure successful delivery of projects on time, within budget, and to agreed quality standards.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, facilitating collaboration across working groups, committees, and consultation processes to drive project outcomes and support informed decision-making.
- Gather, analyse, and interpret data and information to identify emerging issues, monitor project performance, and provide clear and timely reporting against key milestones and deliverables.
- Conduct research and provide strategic analysis to identify trends, inform planning, and support evidence-based decision-making, while championing continuous improvement and best-practice project management approaches.
- Support the implementation of effective project controls, including risk management, scheduling, budgeting, and performance reporting, to enhance transparency, accountability, and project success.

About you
- Proven experience supporting complex infrastructure planning projects.
- Strong skills in tracking project data, risks and registers.
- Confident building relationships with stakeholders and project teams.
- Clear written and verbal communication for government reports.
- Proven experience at navigating complex procurement and contract processes.
- Flexibility to travel to state-wide locations.
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Essential requirements of the role
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent experience.
- Current general construction induction card (White card), or attainment of one within a reasonable timeframe.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
